Hotel Rwanda

Hotel Rwanda is a historical drama film that depicts the Rwandan genocide of 1994, when the Hutu majority slaughtered the Tutsi minority, killing about one million people in 100 days. The film focuses on the true story of Paul Rusesabagina, a Hutu hotel manager who used his skills and connections to save more than 1,200 Tutsi refugees from the Hutu militia. The film shows the contrast between the luxury and safety of the hotel and the horror and violence of the streets, as well as the failure and indifference of the United Nations and the international community to intervene and stop the genocide.

The film is directed by Terry George and stars Don Cheadle as Paul Rusesabagina, Sophie Okonedo as his Tutsi wife Tatiana, and Nick Nolte as Colonel Oliver, a Canadian UN peacekeeper. The film also features historical footage and real testimonies from survivors, adding to the authenticity and realism of the film. The film received critical acclaim and was nominated for three Academy Awards, including Best Actor for Cheadle and Best Supporting Actress for Okonedo.

The film is not only a gripping and emotional portrayal of the genocide, but also a moral and political critique of the world's response to the crisis, and a call for action and justice. The film educates and inspires the audience, and challenges them to reflect on the issues of human rights, responsibility, and compassion. The film is an important and relevant work of art, that deserves to be seen and remember.
